Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
